Which card is easier to get, Amex Charge Card or Amex Credit Card? Do you have to have a higher credit score for one or the other? At this time, I have an Amex PRG and thinking about getting a Starwood or Platinum card.
Thank you in advance!
Depending on how long you have had the Gold card, you might be able to product change to the platinum. Others have posted (please chime in to confirm or deny this) that if you already have an account and apply for another, the Starwood, it will only be a soft pull if you are denied, but will be a hard pull if approved. If this is correct, you have nothing to lose by trying for the Starwood.
If you already have history with them, just got with a revolving card if you already have the Gold. I originally started with the IN:NYC card from AMEX before they cancelled the product which eventually just became the blue card. I had a clear card with a outrageous credit limit as well. As long as you're paying on time, you really shouldn't have any issues.
As others have pointed out, the credit cards are harder to get. Platinum, for example, isn't as difficult to obtain as the name might imply... You are, after all, paying a pretty hefty AF for somewhat meager rewards. Aside from the travel benefits, I can't imagine why you'd carry one over the vast majority of their credit products, including Starwood.
I love my Platinum Card and to be quite honest with you I don't really travel all that much but I still think it pays for itself with the Perkes at Hotels alone. I do plan on traveling a lot more in the future which is why I got the card in the first place, went from a Costco AmEx two years and then got the Platinum AmEx. I like the fact that when I do travel via air I get access to the lounges for free and I also got the free Priority Pass that came with the card which is really just more access to more lounges. Don't forget about your own personall butler with their Conciere service which is pretty cool in itself I don't know how much a travel agent cost but mine is free. I'm just saying!!

Not going to lie BD, but if my file gets to a point where Amex would issue me a Platinum, I'm taking it haha -- $400+ AF and all! ![]()
