I have a trip planned this summer for San Francisco, tickets averaging around $420 round trip. i would like to use my Zync rewards for covering part of my tickets.
If I book through the Amex site it gives me the choice to use points to pay for my flight. What are the value of the points, I.e. dollar value of the points, if I use this method?
Is there a difference in the value I get for my points if I do that or just book the flight and then use my points to get a statement credit for the value (while still earning points on the full purchase price of my ticket)?
Thanks!
Amex Zync is not good for travel. You should get PR Gold and it gives you rewards for traveling. I used my PR Gold during traveling and my Amex Zync stayed at home.
Ron.
I forget the break down of the value but you can click to use points and it will give you a breakdown of how many points for how much off... If I remember correctly it wasn't really all that worth it and that's even with the regular "rewards" not "Express Rewards" if you only have Zync and not linked to another card from amex that earns regular.

No new cards. Applying for a mortgage soon. Plus I am not really in need for another charge card right now. It's Amex Zync or Cap1 rewards on this trip, but I prefer Amex since I have more flexibility in my spending and I usually end up paying for the group items and everyone gives me cash when we return home and split up the costs.

Zync can not be transfered to any frequent flyer/guest program. Green and up can. The card may be able to PC if you have had it longer than 12 months.

I don't know it will give you more spending limit. Do you have any other Amex cards like Green/Gold?
Ron.

When I say more spending limit I mean, my internal spending limit is much much higher than my hard credit line with my cap1 (2250). i have had my zync for a year in march and have had it up to 10k before with no problem, so i am sure i can buy what i need with no fear of a decline. no other amex accounts, though in college i did have the green and it was closed.
Amex membership rewards express points are worth half a penny each towards travel expenses. Regular MR points are worth a full penny each.

i checked the site as another poster suggested and for my current amount of points 21,892 i can cover $137.92 of my ticket....at half a penny wouldnt that be like $109??
