I'm trying to keep our reported balance on the Zync low because we're still in the middle of trying to buy a house and our new loan officer doesn't know the difference between a charge card and a credit card. So, our car insurance and storage unit fees just went onto the Zync, so I wanted to make a $300 payment and it won't let me make a payment because "nothing is due".. lol
I've read of other people making midcycle payments, but, it seems I'm not allowed. Last month my husband wasn't able to make a midmonth payment, but, I could make a payment from my authorized user account. This month though I can't make a payment either. Is this how everyone else's account works?

Until after the 1st month you will have to use your banks bill pay to send a payment to Amex vs. they pull from your account online.
As soon as you have an outstanding balance showing for the pending charges you should be able to submit a payment. If your balance is zero then it won't let you pay.
AMEX won't let me pay before the statement cuts anymore (unless I push it from my side), I found that out a couple weeks ago. Even though there was a balance showing, the amount "due" was still zero. <SIGH>
Jenn, I'm afraid you'll have to push it through from your bank accounts "bill pay" service. Add your AMEX account to your bill pay list and when you force it, AMEX has to take it. They don't seem to mind though lol.
BTW, great loan officer ya got there! LOL (sarcasm directed at loan officer lol).
I was trying to make an extra payment on my Green a couple months ago. I checked one day and was not able to, because there was nothing due. But I checked a day or two later and was able to make the payment; the only difference I could think of was that I no longer had any pending charges.

Yeah, it shows I have a balance of $300, but, no payment due thus no payment allowed. I'll try bill pay through my bank then..lol
And yeah, I know, another winner of a loan officer. The last one sucked and this ones a blundering incompetant too. Our realtor picked this one as she'd worked with him before, so, oh well. I'm really disappointed in humanity in general at the moment. It seems we have all these people in business and finance jobs who don't know jack about their own job. I had to correct half the forms he sent over as the addresses were wrong, dates were wrong, math was wrong.. I got laid off from Walmart which makes me the "loser-iest level of loserdom." These people are supposed to be so much more worthy than I of their bloated paychecks and yet I have to solve these simple problems for them. Geesch, I had people who worked for me at Walmart as stockers who cared enough to memorize where every flavor of cat food can went so that they could be more productive. They made minimum wage and got no benefits while this incompetent loan officer probably clears at least $75k to bungle the simplest assignments. Bob, the gap toothed pet food stocker at Walmart, cared more about doing a good job and knowing his job thoroughly than any of the loan officers I've worked with.

Is it a new account? I vaguely remember having a similar issue w/ my gold card when I first opened it. There was a waiting period before I was aloud to make multiple payments each month. As other posters have said, use your bank's bill pay option. I was able to make additional payments through bill pay until the waiting period was over.
Happens on any new account or if you change bank account information on the AMEX web site. You can only make mid-cycle payments after 30 days. I've run into it various times in the past. Same thing if an AU changes their bank account information: they won't be able to post mid-cycle payments, but the primary account holder still can (unless their information has changed, too).
Ah okay, that explains it then. It is a new account, only a month or two old. Did have our first statement already and probably a couple weeks away from the next one. I'll just try to push a payment from our bank and see what happens.
