I assume you mean the cardmatch offer. Once my credit improved they pulled the offer from me and I waited a few months but it would not come back. Its really absurd. The website offered me the card when I knew I would be rejected (because I had just been rejected for an amex charge) and then they pulled it and I was able to get instant approvals.

Pretty much the same happened to me. I only had the offer when my credit was weaker Smiley Sad

It really depends on the content you're looking for.

I like Netflix quite a bit and watch a lot of TV shows + they have a decent foreign film select IMO + Netflix originals have been A+ so far.  I've been told though that Amazon has some newer movies and decent TV selection as well.  I'm guessing the combo (Netflix+prime) will be pretty good.  Plus I buy something from Amazon once a month, so the free shipping will add up pretty quick too!

Amazon Instant isn't really anything to write home about. If you have Netflix, I'd just stick with that. However, I have Amazon Prime for Students, and I have saved a ton on shipping (yay two day!). Kind of bummed Indiana now requires sales tax on Amazon orders Smiley Sad

Being that I will get a credit for amazon prime to cover the annual fee I think I will cancel netflix. Honestly, I have had netflix online for a long long time and until House of Cards comes back there is nothing on there I want to watch anyway. I do have some shipments to make with amazon, so it will be worth it for that alone and the streaming content may provide something new for me to watch, even though I doubt there will be much I haven't seen.

+1

Me too, with sales tax levied in CA, I no longer buy from amazon, except for dry foods where there's no tax.  Before the sales tax levy, this amazon prime offer would have been a nice perk.  Matter of fact, it's great for anyone who can still purchase from amazon without being taxed.

I didn't notice this benefit when I applied for the amex BCP, but its actually is paying off fairly well for me. If you apply for amex plat, BCP, BCE or Gold Business you can get a credit for one year of Amazon Prime (assuming you meet your initial spend requirement), which is a $79 value. Its a nice little perk for a card I was getting anyway for other reasons. Not sure when amex started adding this as part of their offer.

I don't know if you knew this, But if you have American Express, You can sign up for shoprunner for 100% Free. It's like amazon prime, But for a bunch of other websites... The one I use it on the most is NewEgg. But it also has offers from dominos (I believe) and like 40 other online retailers for free 2-day shipping.

Thanks. I did not know and this looks interesting. Obviously the selection of items is more limited, but there are two or three stores there that I might buy from (newegg, timberland). I don't get the domino's thing. I don't pay shipping for pizza and when I click it I just get redirected to the domino's website.

Re: Amex and Amazon Prime

I've noticed these offers on the Amex site lately.

I've had Amazon Prime for years.  Prior to getting the Prime membership, I rarely shopped on Amazon.  Things changed when I found that items I purchased on eBay were actually being purchased on Amazon for less and shipped directly to me.  The free two-day shipping and $3.99/item one-day shipping absolutely make up for the annual fee in no time.  Amazon is singlehandedly responsible for changing my attitude toward buying items online; being able to expect an item to arrive the next day or in two business days at little to no extra charge is just too convenient to pass up.  Add to that the fact that you can share your Prime membership with household members at no additional charge and it's a no-brainer.  I've also found their customer service to be absolutely superb.

In the interest of full disclosure, I feel I should mention that I no longer pay for my Prime membership.  My SO has Prime and I maintain membership through him.

I have Amazon Prime for Students as well, I like how it's $39 per year instead of $79 and I don't even go to school. LOL. I just used the one my community college gave me when I was thinking about going back... lol
