citi is buying the entire portfolio, including all of your accounts. you will get a citi Costco card, and Amex will most likely just offer you another card and apply history to it, or a new account.
These are two very different things. I really hope it's the first one. I missed getting under the wire for the AmEx backdating on my new BCP. I hope that whatever happens with Costco/AmEx I get to keep the backdating from the card that I opened a couple years ago (back to 1987).

Citi has has different requirement from Amex so not necessarily true. Costco members will have an option.
As long as the person meets Citi's UW requirements they'll get a new card. I read somewhere that something like 98% of people will qualify, since amex tends to have fairly strict underwriting requirements.
Which amex card and which citi card?
Citi can be very fickle.
Not that i have a BK for chapter 7 or 13 or 1-100 but i heard its tough with citi for those that have bankruptcy. Also those that have many inquiries, like myself "lol" citi is rough with that as well. CLI I heard are lame, only thing that's nice is you get your Experian FICO... but im on myfico anyways so that doesn't really matter to me. I guess we wont find out till later later. I just got excited when the rep mentioned that shortly they would be prompting the BCE or BCP for the TE for PC. Good thing i did a screen shot of the chat, justttttt in case.
At the time I've tried a Citi card and got denied as well. I had 5 inquires across the board and received a later 7-10 days later stating that i had a delinquency that was pretty old 30 day late 2 years ago but that's all it said, tried to recon 3 times , nothing....and this was for the simplicity, or whatever was the lowest credit score card , i dont recall lol at the time i had like a 660-680 EQ is what they pulled.
What is the deadline date on the Citi takeover for AMEX TE accounts? I would like to avoid being caught up in this mess, the last thing I want is a new account from Citi hitting my CR's. Sounds like I need to close my TE card to avoid the trouble. I don't want go on the books as an asset in Citi's purchase.
From my experience, Citi has terrible customer service and I never want to deal with their credit card department again.

Someone posted above that it wouldn't be a new account on your credit report.
This is why I hate being kept in the dark.
The costco card will most likely NOT be a new account. It will simply begin reporting as a citi account as opposed to an amex account, HOWEVER, if amex offers you a new card in replacement of the costco card, that MAY begin reporting as a new account. No way of knowing until it happens.
