Amex auto cli question

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if Amex does auto cli with new accounts? The reason I ask is because I am trying to see if it better if I wait for a cli then ask for 3x.

Re: Amex auto cli question

I say just wait for fo the 3x limit increase. I was approved Dec 2014 at $4k-->$12k Feb-->$23,300 August

It's worth the wait

They'll auto CLI any account that qualifies -- new or old.

Given that a requested CLI is based on last soft pull IMO there's no reason to not request CLI's unless you're certain that your credit and income do not qualify.

As for "better", you qualify for whatever your credit and income support.  Waiting or not waiting for an auto CLI does not change your credit or income.

Thanks, I think I may have miscommunicated. I was wondering if I should wait to see if I can get a auto cli before I ask for 3x cli. I am just trying to see if I can maximize the 3x cli. I have putting good use into the card and paying in full since most people point to Amex preferring full payments as opposed to carrying a balance.

From the reports in this forum, I would say that auto CLI for new accounts are rare. More reports for 3X requests. If your card is at 2K, it can grow to 18K in 6-9 months.

Re: Amex auto cli question

I got my AMEX Delta Gold in July 2013. Put a consistent $500~ each month, PIF, for a year, then ramped it up to within $50 of the $2k limit, and they gave me a $1k auto CLI.

This was before I found out about the 3x here.

i would not think any auto CLI will be worth waiting for. AMEX is going to be happy if you charge up to 90% and PIF. No obvious reason for them to give you an auto CLI.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812
Jan 2019 $7.6k on $360k EQ 832 TU 839 EX 831
March 2021 $33k on $312k EQ 796 TU 798 EX 801
May 2021 Paid all Installments and Mortgages, one new Mortgage EQ 761 TY 774 EX 777
April 2022 EQ=811 TU=807 EX=805 - TU VS 3.0 765

Thanks for the heads up. I was even debating using up entire limit then paying off twice in one month to see if it would help but may just do 3x now and then again in 6 months, assuming it gets approved.
