This would be meaningless because of the devaluation that has occurred.
Their new redemption charts arei ridiculous.
Maybe Chase Ritz card can save the day w/ plat status w/ 10k spend annually.
At the end of the day the reason Credit Card companies have these co-branded cards is to get people to sign up for them and pay annual fees, make charges, and carry balances. The target market for these cards are high income and good credit rating persons. If they don't have enough of a sign up bonus no one will get the cards. Their potential clients are not stupid. If they devalue than they will just have to increase the sign up bonus. Otherwise they are paying Marriott needlessly.

That is Chase business model. AmEx was in the charge card business and it found it is not making enough money. So it followed up with allthe Blue clear plastic CREDIT cards. Citi is somehow different. They do not hand out the generous bonuses, but earn more interest incomes from the outstanding balances low to mid income people carrry.
Sorry for going astray from the OP topics.

On Monday with the big announcements it was clear that the SPG would not be going away anytime soon, and would be accompanied by the new Luxury card with existing cardholders being given a chance to upgrade.
There has been a devaluation in the points earning for everyday spend on the SPG (from 1 SPG worth 3 Marriott points to 2 of the new points valued the same as Marriott), but it is a major rush to judgment to say that there has been a devaluation with the new redemption charts. Just looking at the current Marriott chart, there are 9 categories of hotels and 4 tiers of Ritz-Carlton. That is changing to 8 categories. We can be sure that properties like Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis will be Category 8, but until Marriott themselves have finished categorizing every property between the 3 brands (expected to be announced in about 6 weeks), we don't know where the current properties end up. What's certain is that an existing Category 8 or 9 Residence Inn will almost certainly not be a Category 8 in the new chart. It's been stated by numerous execs at Marriott that more properties will go down in points required than up, and I am inclined to believe this. My issues with that are two-fold, 1.) the earning potential for Marriott points will be severely reduced effectice August 1st, and 2.) this does not mean that 6-12 months down the road they do decide to devalue the points by requiring more points for awards and more for transfers and packages.
I mentioned it already (possibly in another thread), but the Ritz-Carlton updated terms were already released on Monday. It is extremely unlikely that new terms will be announced where Ritz-Carlton suddently comes to save the day. It will be the same $10k for Gold and $75k for Platinum requirements as the SPG Luxury going forward, but the earning rate of the Ritz-Carlton is not changing meaning that the SPG would still be a better bet for everyday spend, though debatable if Platinum status is attainable with a Visa product but not an Amex and Platinum status is valued more than the loss in everyday spend points.

Peak/Event redemption rates kill the program. For me anyway I have no problem switching to Hilton to get more value of my dollar for stays. Marriott Gold devalue changed things for me. Instead of being in the Backbay, I’ll be staying in the Fin Dist. Hilton when I’m in Beantown.
I was pre-qualified last week with a 25K point SUB, applied and instantly aprroved. They even sent the card to me overnight (which I didn't request). Then I saw another add with the 30K SUB and got on chat to see if they would honor and they wouldn't. She said that the bonuses change and could change within hours by marketing. So I lucked out and got the 25K. Talk about timing...
