Amex co-branded cards

Does applying for an Amex co-branded card such as Delta SkyMiles or Hilton Honors result in a SP for existing Amex cardholders, just like it would for other regular Amex cards?  Or are they different and will get you a HP?

SP. Most of the time at least.

Re: Amex co-branded cards

All my experiences have been a SP.
YMMV but in all likelihood it will be the same if you have a decent history with them

If you have a AmEx co- branded card you ARE an AmEx member.
Therefore if you apply for ANY other AmEx card it WILL ONLY result in a SP.

It's not a slam dunk.  As I've mentioned on this site before, It took me 3 HP to get my 11 AMEX cards, no rejections or recon.

I got my SPG and SPG Lux with a SP but like others have said its YMMV. Other's have gotten HP on their apps but so far Amex hasn't HP's my apps since my first Amex card in 2016.

This! My first 2 Amex resulted in a HP for each. After that, it’s been only SP.

Just want to also add, if it’s a card you want and will be able to use the benefits, a HP isn’t a big price to pay. Imo

Is there anything that determines if it's a HP or just a roll of the dice?

If you're a current AMEX cardholder the house odds are GREATLY in your favor that any future app is a SP. As a few have reported that's not a sure thing but that's something that a lot of people will bet the house on.
