I got an amex SPG as I was under the impression it would be good for events. Most of what is near me is not useful for an SPG, and I'm not much of an air traveler/hotel stayed in recent years.
My question is... I know you can't downgrade as there is no other card to go to, if I were to cancel it could no move the balance to my other amex card? Does anyone know or have experience with it.
I believe you can transfer all but $500 from the card to another Amex revolver you have. Then you can close the account.

I tried that, but the minimum for SPG is my limit on the card, so I can't move it. Wonder if I close it if I can move it since the card would be gone
I don't believe it is possibe. Once it's closed, it's closed. But call in to double check and correct me if I'm wrong.
They changed the transfer limit unless it was just me. All but 1,000 is what is allowed to be transferred.

It gives me the option for all but $500 on any card I choose.
Your post is unclear: you say at the end "transfer the balance" -- do you mean the limit?
Amex, last I checked, allows you to transfer FROM a card that is 13 months or older TO a card that is 60 days or older. You can't transfer from business->personal cards. You're limited to reallocating limits to once every 30 days.
The link a few years ago was https://online.americanexpress.com/myca/linereallocation/us/ssr.do?request_type=authreg_LineRealloca... but not sure if that still works.
Typically reallocations that are under $25,000 are soft pulls only.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant limit. I have 2 1k amex cards, so I can't move limit, but had been wondering if I closed one could I get that limit added to the other one... I'm just going to stick it out with both for now.
I'm getting close to my 60 day 3x CLI, so I'm hoping that goes thru. I was kinda looking for plan b if it didn't go thru as my scores are still low, but another poster told me that he's seen some go thru even with low scores. It's me, I'm impatient, and I like to see action, but I'm at the point where I need to chill and let everything grow and its really really hard to do lol
Is it true you can only have one CLI every 6 months across all your accounts? My first card will be 60 days in a few days, but my second one will be next month.. If I get the CLI on the first would it stop a CLI on the second card next month?

Sadly, yes.
