Amex green charge card limit

Is there Any method or a way of use of the card
To make a increase on the internals spending limit with a Amex green card I am trying to help someone
He is using the card and paying using and paying he has it open like two months but the range only allows 2000$ spending limit
Basically it’s almost useless since he can’t do charges over $2000?
He has a dining charge he wants to charge this week it’s going to be on with $3000 so it’s going to have to tell them to charge it With two cards
It’s very annoying
And he has 2 Revolving accounts like one is 9 months old and one 3 months old with $1000 cl each

Check the spending power tool on the website to see if they will allow the charge

Has he tried checking the "Check Spending Power" feature on the Amex website?

I believe it's based on a rolling 6 months of use.

He tried for $2000 it won’t approve

Then I would suggest pushing a payment to the Green card from his bank to have a negative balance so the charge goes through. If this is not viable then try customer service to see if they can work with him on getting it approved

Call the number on the card and speak with a Customer Care Professional. They can authorize a charge in excess of the current limit.

Sounds like an altogether young / thin file. Not enough charge / payment history anywhere to expect that large of a charge.

Are we allowed to ask what group is going to enjoy the $3k dining event? And who will be providing the funds to pay off the charge?

Calling AMEX with that info is a capital idea.

The more you charge and pay the higher they’re willing to go, at least this was my experience but it has been some years. I too started off with similar limits but running it up and paying it off over and over again I think I got up to 20k ish. Amex can be very generous when they like you and they can close the coffers just as quick if they don’t like something about you.

I thought the internal limit for new accounts was $5300.
