Amex online: making a card the default

For the last few months (not sure when it started) when I log into my American Express account, by default it shows a card that is not my "main" card.   It used to start with that one.   I chatted with Amex today and the proposed solution was to remove the other cards and then add them back.   When I suggested that this was clunky, compared to say a "set as default" option, he said "Oh, check on the home page to see if there is a star to set as default".   I don't have that.

Does anyone have that, and/or a better way than deleting and re-adding to solve this (very minor!) issue?

This happened to me too when they updated the site. I don't have the star option (did, but no longer). Mine also shows a card that is not my main card, when previously, it did show it.

Re: Amex online: making a card the default

Since the web redesign this has annoyed the %#$@ out of me.

It gets worse if you have more than 4 cards since you actually have to click My Accounts to even see #5 and onward. Even removing and adding them back in likely won't work. My Delta card (#6 of 6 in adding to the account and in opening date) shows as #3.  My usual daily driver? Always last no matter what I do.  Click My Accounts (where there used to be a star to choose which one is default but no longer!), and the cards aren't even in the same order they are at the top of the account screen!

The only way I know of to get around it is to make additional accounts for each card, or for groups of cards.  Not something I want to deal with so I'm living with the current layout.  FWIW my two charge cards always show first (Platinum then PRG); it's the revolvers after them that are seemingly random.

Someone in the AMEX 3X CLI thread posted it I believe (or some other thread but it was defintely from these forums). I just bookmarked it because while I like some changes they made to the new interface PITA stuff like the card lineup make me want to steal a toddler's candy bar.

Kinda fun to look at the Amex product line from 20 years ago. The co-brand relationships with Hilton, Delta, and SPG are old as dirt. The MR program used to have a separate $25 annual fee. If you had gold or plat you could borrow(!) MR points against future purchases. Prime rate was 8.25%.

I used to have the plain vanilla SkyMiles card before I ruined it. I wonder what they did with those accounts.

That's a web page.  For extra credit, you have got to get a print ad from the 80s.  And not show it online!
