In the past I had the PRG (like 4 or 5 years ago). This was before the once in a lifetime language. In the past year I have gotten online offers to signup for this card. I have asked Amex customer service and they checked my account and listed all the amex cards I ever had and they do not see the PRG card. I think I likely can get the bonus again. What I am wondering is at what point in the app process does the amex window pop up telling you that you won't get the bonus? Is there a way to start the app to confirm if eligible for the bonus but not app? Like if elgible for the bonus I would assume there is no popup. Is there a way to get that far in the process to see if I am going to get the popup or not and still not apply or does th popup only occur after you click submit and if you are eligible for the bonus the app just processes right then?
The popup stating you are not eligible pops up after you click Submit. If you are not eligible, you get a chance to back out. If you are eligible, you've already reached the point of no return.

Ok good to know.

And much as it pains me to be positive about Amex, this really does seem to perfectly fair: you app knowing the expected terms of the offer, so they only notify you if some of the benefits will not apply.
I agree that it's a fair solution to clamping down on churning, although there have certainly been a few eyebrow-raising cases where the applicant was inelgibile. Also, an "assist" on my answer should be credited to @CreditCuriosity and @UncleB for posting their experiences in the Cash Magnet thread.
Yep, no real complaints here, either, even though I was impacted by the rule. I would rather know up-front that there's an issue with the bonus rather than after-the-fact.
As a data point, I got the pop-up on a Cash Magnet app. I've only ever closed two Amex cards... a Green card and a Delta Gold, and the Green didn't even have a bonus (and tragically the Delta was only 30k Skymiles).
I'm assuming the issue was the timing; both the Green and Delta were closed before the first AF was due (this was pre-RAT). I still have a BCP and PRG, as well as an installment loan.

Need to try one of those business cards ... See if you get a pop-up if not then bonus and no AAoA hit and a SP win-win
if pop-up then skip... For science I tell you! lol.. I wonder if it is card independent and independent between business and personal.. We need more detail I tell you!
