I made two seperate posts because on here it seems like everyone feels too add there 2 cents instead of simply answering my question. On my other post I was hoping some people with experience can chime in.

That's what I'm thinking too, a returned payment is not necessarily late. He still could've made a payment after that right?
When a bank reduces your credit limit and then CANCELS your card due to returned payments, I think it's safe to say that the returned payments negatively impacted the account! Whether the OP's were technically late or not, I don't know, but I'm guessing they were. Besides, from what I've read returned payments are even worse than late payments.
Of course, but my point was that a returned payment doesn't always mean a late payment. But certainly it has bad consequences
Surprised I got a $200 limit lol completely terrible.

Macy's Amex has nothing to do whatsoever with Amex the bank. It only uses the Amex payment network, but it has no bearing on your current issue with Amex the bank.

So, you start another thread so they can add 3 cents?
Thats how forums work, someone asks, others answer.
If you're bothered by what you think are off topic answers, then why follow a post that was completely off topic, had a really bad advice which was addressed by another member (obviously that was ignored) and apply for a card you dont need and cannot use?
But to "simply answer your question", there is no set timeline, it's different for everyone. If/when they approve you, it will be a rough ride because Amex will approve but they will severely limit your spending, and that's good in a way because you won't have to worry about moving money for payment, you'd pretty much be pre-payimg if you want larger charges to go through.
Those would be my five cents.
Maybe the Amex Optima? but that tends to only be offered with unsettled amex debt to entice you to resolve it.
Amex doesn't play with returned payments. Allowing several was legendary level patience on their part given their reputation here for zero tolerance for those kind of events. Even people who get kicked off of NPSL can usually expect a few years in probation. Personally I'd call the Platinum service number and see if they'll do anything. If not I'd wait 2 years before trying to apply. If declined I'd try every year... OR I'd move on. Just mho.
Kind of curious about what amex would do. Banks like cap1 and Barclay blacklist for life on as little as 2 NSF. They're ok with letting people back in after paying the debt in full, but this is a completely different beast. Personally, I'm thinking it would be a 10+ year ban, if not permanent.

Returned payments are one element of "Bust-out fraud" that lenders are watching for. That's why a returned payment, even a payment that is not covering a mandatory due payment, is such a big deal. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bustout.asp-0
OP I would take a look at your credit report, and see how your ex-account with Amex is listed. It's probably "account closed by grantor" or some such. Look for any negative notes. Try to see why Macy's gave you spit for a credit limit.
Depending on what's in your file, you might consider a general reset of your credit. Try not to go blasting out apps, which can harm you in a couple of ways. I suggest you forget about Amex for awhile, that plane has probably crashed. Maybe take a look at Navy Federal. They're a credit union, and have a range of products, including secured cards which can "graduate" to unsecured in a year or so, depending. Make yourself a fresh start, and play it s-t-r-a-i-g-h-t. Just my 2¢
