Yes, you're missing something
First year is free, but if you forget to take it off auto renewal, it's not so free following year.
So, Amex gets to pretend they gave you something of value, and those who either forget about renewal, or actually like something like this, end up paying for fan sounds and calming voice telling them everything is going to be okay if they take a few deep breaths.

Kinda what I thought an opt-out program after first year.. PITA they are.. They hope you forget and give it to you nicely if you do.

Get people nice and calm, a little less up tight about paying in full by due date ("shhhhh, just a little interest, not going to hurt anything, just relax, relax.")

You need whale sounds.

As I already have two blue whales living in my (oversize) bath tubs, I don't think I need any more sounds!

So this was a very welcome email.
I'm not sure if this is for personal Platinums only, also Business Platinums, or other cards too.Not just for Platinum.
I love the CALM app; especially these day and I paid for it, you should definitely try it, for free.
I just got my email. I always wanted this app.

You should definitely try it; especially for free! I did not see it in my Amex offers, prior to signing up for a second year. I find it really helpful when I am stressed or anxious or angry. It seems that they have a little something for everyone, even celebrities leading the meditations, if you are into that, lol!
One day, I was so anxious I listened to a meditation and the some piano music right in the app, and it worked!
Just set your alarm to cancel before the auto-renewal date, no different or more difficult than setting up your credit cards for auto-pay, right?
Considering there are currently six Amexagony threads on page one, maybe they will make it to where its mandatory to use the app before posting, calling, chatting.
I received the email this offer on my Everyday card. Pass.
