Amex random CLI-is this normal?

So, I have had my AMEX Everyday about 6 months. I currently (as of today) have it maxed out, but I make several payments throughout the month. But today, when I made the purchase that maxed the card, AMEX emailed me and said they've increased my credit limit by $1000. This is a little crazy to me because I am maxed currently! Is this normal? Obviously I am thrilled, just curious! And of course I'll be paying it down soon.

Nice! Did you get the email right after after you made that purchase? And how long have you been close to maxing out? Has it been for months or just a one time thing recently. Interesting. I've always paid my balances down to $0 and never carry a high balance and haven't gotten any cli, I guess you are more rewarded when you're carrying a high balance/maxed out. Guess I should start doing that lol.

Was your starting limit also $1k?

This happened to me on my BCE at the end of 9th month. $1k became $2k. My CLI attempts in the meanwhile were declined citing high balance.

Starting limit was $2500. Current Limit is $3500. I'm an AU on 2 $10k accounts of my husbands (1 of them is AMEX). Oh and it was less than an hour after the purchase. I'm still in the 0% intro period and will be paying it off before it's over. It has 80%+ of limit for a few months so it's interesting to me...
