Amex reporting

Why in the world does it take 2-3 billing cycles for Amex to report new card. I can't app for mortgage until it does and it was opened oct 2nd!

Because this is how they do things.  You could always call them and ask them to push an update due to applying for a mortgage.

Why do you need it reported?  Just declare it as a tradeline not on your report.  Little bit of extra paperwork but I most certainly wouldn't put off a mortgage app over that if everything else was in order.  Lenders hate surprises, if you tell them it's really there, not a big problem if it shows up before closing and if they even check again.

 

Actually, now that I think of it, this is likely the entire purpose of the inquiry Letter of Explanation as the standard boilerplate lenders use has field where you can state whether it lead to a tradeline or not.
