Amex

Hi,

I have a BCE and need to make a large purchase.  Does the spending power button work for Amex credit cards or just for charge cards?  How much power over your current level general would you be approved (i.e. percentage or dollar amount).

Thanks

Re: Amex

If your credit limit is sufficient for your purchase and your account is in good standing you're fine.

Use this tool to see if your purchase(s) will be approved.

You can only check your spending power up to three times a day.

You may be approved to temporarily spend over your credit limit, but any overlimit transactions will increase your Minimum Payment Due.

it's probably profile dependent, I would simply ask for the total amount of the purchase and see if Amex will let you, if it says you're good, they likely allow your card to go overlimit temporaily to make that purchase

My BCE (now upgraded to BCP) has routinely had Spending Power of $1-1.5k more than my CL. But this pales in comparison to charge cards and biz CCs, where on the latter I have $99k of SP on a BBP and BBC.

Since you're talking about BCE why not  just stay within your credit limit?
