Another Store card closing Spree..Lord help me!! ;)

So, there you have it...a total of $45.9k  closed, just today....thats not including what ive closed over the last few weeks too!!

I am now offically down to only 8 store cards....hard to believe when at what point I had 30!!!  

I think the cards I have now, Im keeping for at least several years...they are my favorites, and I use them!!  All my cards I now have, majors and store cards, are the ones that will continue with me in my credit journey. I will reevaluate things again in a year or so.

Heheh.   It's true that JCP is a sentimental fav of mine for being key in my rebuilding.   For me, my JCP still has a purpose aside from mere loyalty.   Generally speaking, if accounts no longer meet a need and you'd prefer not to manage them, then there's nothing wrong with closing, so long as you mind things like UTIL and zero balances.  Everyone's credit is a unique path.   There's not a "one size fits all" credit profile.

Nice job on trimming down the excess. In the next few months I plan on closing out some store cards. I too really want to downsize.

When your able to close cards, you know you've come a long way and reached new heights in your credit journey. There's a lot to be said about simplifying and discarding the excess baggage, I personally believe in quality of credit over quantity of credit. You know what you want and you've got a plan to get it done, Big Congrats!!!!

I have a Chase Freedom, Chase CSP, Citi Simplicity, Citi Double Cash, EBates Visa, Sportsmans Guide Visa and Lowes I want to keep.  I have closed several cards in the last 2 months but it's going to be hard to let go of Overstock, J Crew, Fuel Rewards MC. and Total Rewards Visa.  It has to be done now that I worked my way into approvals for better cards.  I was on top of the world when I got store cards co-branded with major CCs but the thrill has worn off and I want the simple life back again.  Credit score 761 so there are no regerts!
