Any true down side to having a sock drawer card?

Would it hurt my score not to use it at all

My Comenity card is in SD. Has not been used in almost a year. I haven't seen any downside other than that the card won't report unless used, so it won't show a good payment unless I actually use it (which I have zero desire to do). The downside I guess is that the lender could close the card. It would suck because it is my oldest account, but it wouldn't kill me if it was closed. I am only keeping it open to continue to AAOA.

Basically this.    If you want it for any reason such as padding util, there is a chance a SD card will be closed.    But if you don't need it, it being closed is fine.

 

The other thing is to periodically monitor for fraud etc, which is why I advocate closing rather than SD cards you REALLY don't need!
