If you're jet setting around the world, there are better no FTF options than QS and I'm not exactly sure what it means if you need to redeem your rewards for $15 bucks or whatever.
Obsolete to you isn't obsolete to everyone else. And no, there are no better no FTF, no AF, cash rewards options than the QuickSilver.
Agreed. Admittedly there is still a market for QS. I don't see it going away anytime soon.

At that high a reward rate without an AF and with straight cashback, there are no other cards with no FTF. Discover IT comes the closest, 1% base reward and no FTF.
The Orbitz Visa by Comenity does have 2% flat rewards on everything and no FTF, but you can only redeem for hotel rooms booked through Orbitz.
I just got the Quicksilver, by mistake, because I thought they were the bank that would be offering the EQ 08. Are you saying that there is no Foreign Transaction Fee? If that's the case, it'll become my go-to-travel card.
I've been thinking about applying for the Double Cash, for the FICO score and the rewards, but adding another card to the rotation. Not so sure.
Yes no FTF at all on cap qs cards, i used it in thailand along with my CSP no FTF.
As much as I curse out Cap1 on this forum and call them sub-prime, etc.. The QS is one of the best dang cards on the market for rewards plus no FTF.. Honestly you can't beat it... I can admit when they have a great overall product. Still hate their CSR's though.

* 0% FTF
* Redeem from $0.01, in any amount
* 1.5% on everything
Double Cash is inferior because:
* 3% FTF
* Redeem in multiples of $25 (not any amount)
* 1% on purchases + 1% on payments. You lose 1% if you redeem cashback for a statement credit!
(I don't have the Double Cash so I'm only going off what I've read.)
The only thing I'd add to this is that you don't have to redeem in exact multiples of $25. You just need to have at least $25 in order to redeem. I deposited a random amount of just under $40 into my bank account and didn't lose any of the cashback value.
I have both cards and I use both of them every month, though I only use the QS in the handful of days just before my statement cuts on the DC. I like to be sure that they both report a $0 balance.
I will say that the redemption process for QS is way better than the DC. The rewards are available immediately and you can redeem for any amount like you said. With DC you have to wait for the statement to cut. I suppose you could that to the DC inferior list. ![]()
I think the benefit of the DC boils down to whether you PIF. If you do, then it would be a good card to have, since you can get the 2% cash back. If waiting for the statement to cut is a problem for you, then that is a personal issue which must be considered. Redeeming with at least $25 should also be considered a personal issue.
However, with that being said, the benefit of the QS is the lack of a FTF. So keep the card for that reason as you never know, you might decide to take a trip one day.
I DO redeem the cash back on my QS regardless of the amount! It is just so much easier for me to keep it at $0.00! I will always have at least one QS card, but probably two. My sister uses one of my cards! I need one for my own use when I travel! If Discover upped their overall to 1.5%, then I would be more than happy to close some of my QS cards!

It could make a nice little bonus if you ran a balance on it for some time at 0%. ![]()
