If EX is not reporting correctly why would it be unethical to freeze it until it is corrected?

Freeze the report if the issuer requires EX and will not pull another CB you can give a pin or unfreeze at that time.

CB make money off your profile. If they refuse to correct inaccuracies why allow them to continue to profit from you?

That's not that "borderline unethical" case.   More, like in the case of the OP, there is nothing factually wrong with the CR, it's just that there are "too many" inquiries and you want to hide your recent search for credit from the issuer you are now apping.

Re the mods: this is not to be encouraged here.   I put this, along with some other things, as more T&Cs for using this forum, rather than any judgement about morality: the owners decide the rules for their own business purposes.

I was referring to OP stating he wanted a more accurate view of his report even suggesting being double pulled EX + another CB.  To me I understood that as OPs report wasn't accurate as he wasn't just trying to hide the report but use another report for information as a protest to the inaccurate one. (Example: this is saying 30days late other reports don't on same account etc.)

Maybe, but the post starts off talking about the large numbers of INQs on EX.

Re: Any way to ask for a different CRA?

The EX report is accurate, but I would say not representative. When a lender pulls a report they assume that it is representative of your overall credit situation. In this case I would argue it is not. It is accurate though, which is why I think freezing would be kind of unethical.

Just curious, why do you say it's not 'representative'?

Re: Any way to ask for a different CRA?

Well because if you look at only my EX report you think I am applying for credit like crazy. But I'm not, it's just that all the inquiries are sitting on a single report.

I think we all face that because of how often EX is pulled.  And if anyone has a lot of inquiries on EX it does at least mean that you have applied as often as the number of inquiries.  In my case I have a lot more on EQ because that's what NFCU pulled for membership, two cc applications and LOC application but I still have 6 on EX.

So i am getting really annoyed at the fact that here everyone pulls EX. So i have 1 inq on EQ, 1 on TU and like 7 on EX. Asides from AMEX, can you ask other creditors to pull a different CRA perhaps in addition to the one they already pulled?

I know you can force them to do this by freezing a CRA but that seems extreme and kind of borderline unethical. I am talking about having them do an additional pull so they don't get an inaccurate picture of your credit situation.

7 is not very many!

just pick a creditor that almost never pulls EX (GE/SYNC) Walmart, Sams, 76 Gas, Chevron, Paypal, Ebates, etc. etc. etc. only pull TU.

Discover doesn't pull EX that often.

Most Credit Unions.

Those are all true, but generally I only apply for a card if there is a strong reason for me to get it: either an amzing anniversary bonus that compensates for the annual fee (hello US Bank Carlson), a very high earning potential from regular spending  (Freedom etc) or an insane sign up bonus preferably with a waived AF (so I can try the card for free get the sign up bonus and then consider whether it is worth keeping it or not). Cards with really nice rewards/benefits seem to almost always be from Citi, Chase or AMEX, all of whom pull EX here.

I get your point.  It can be a daunting challenge to pick and choose.  We need them to remove the inquiries much quicker :-)

This is actually perfectly representative if all inq are on 1 report.. Anyone who pulls the other 2 will be getting the less representative picture.

This is overblown anyway, inq only count up to a certain number after that no additional fico effects are seen. New accounts will continue to ding though. If you have a good profile inq will not stop approvals (see Ron1).

Re: Any way to ask for a different CRA?

OP, can you update your siggy with which cards you have and perhaps their age? And for clarification (maybe I missed the comment) are you getting denials, and then is it because of the number of inquiries, or you're just concerned about the number in general?
