Anyone avoid store cards?

I apped for one store card last year just for a discount and to test where my credit was post discharge 10 year old bankruptcy. Needless to say, I'm just not interested over my cashback cards I have in rotation. Synchrony gave me a 300 cli to 1,000 from an original 700 limit on card that I virtually never use.

Anyone else feel no love for store cards?

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

I sure loved them when I started this rebuild, but I plan on shutting all but 2 down as my overall utilization goes down. Since I pay amazon and VS in full each use, I'm keeping them for the rewards, but these other store cards are worthless next to 2% DC, 1.5% QS, Amex points, etc. I was almost sold on the target store card until I realized the debit gives the same discount.

No real love for them here either! I can't wait to ditch all these comenity cards, except of course for my beloved VS which is a weirdly unecessary sentimental thing.

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

I was tempted to get Amazon (Synchrony) for higher CL and UTI help, but got over it.  Discover is 5% on Amazon from July-Dec (and Discover match for first 12 mos).

My plan is for specific bank/CU cards, no interest in store cards for now.  Smiley Happy

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

I have zero love for store cards (even when I was rebuilding).  I'd much rather get airline miles, cash back, or hotel points for my various spend in stores.

The only "possible" itch for me is REI.

What MissingCali said.

My only possible itch would be REI or LL Bean.

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

There are about 30 store cards I would like to have.  Unfortunately It comes with 30 new accounts, AAoA crash, and "too much available credit".   So, I'll keep 2 after I close OS at the 2 year mark.

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

I have Amazon and Home Depot for specific purposes. I like them and use them. That being said, I pretty much do avoid store cards. I prefer my other rewards cards. However, if I found a store card I really wanted and would benefit me, I would consider it. Not for a long time, though, because I am in the garden.Smiley Happy

Re: Anyone avoid store cards?

I avoid them now but during my time of rebuid they came in handy and served their purpose.  Besides I still find my JCP, Lowes, and Amazon cards very useful.  I'll let me Overstock and Walmart store card age until the lender terminates the relationship.
