Anyone going to try for the SW Companion Pass?

There are some public offers out there for 50k on all the Southwest cards now. Running with Miles, Doctor of Credit and Million Mile Secrets all have some posts with the links, though Running with Miles had it first. The Plus is 50k as well, which lagged behind the semi-public 50k offer for the Premier that some bloggers had on May 1st.

I really wish I had some patience a couple weeks ago. I could have applied for both the Premier and Plus with one inquiry and then applied for my second Sallie Mae the same day. Now I might have to explain myself if I app for the Plus. Smiley Frustrated

If I were to go for it i'd do Plus, Premier, and Business Premier for 150K.

There you go. 6k in 3 months would be a little tough for some people though. If I only do one more, then the spend bonus on that won't be a problem. I wish I knew exactly how long this offer would be on the table. Hopefully it will be there for the rest of this month at least. I wonder if there is any difference between a 16 day gap between applications vs. a month gap.

I'd wait until January to get it. then you get two full years. we're like halfway through this year already, losing 6 months of companion pass.

There was someone on the forum that did just this.

Technically, You could do it on two cards and just put 5K spend on both for 110K.

Yeah, that's true, but there are two problems with this at least for me. First, I just got the Premier so I can't get that bonus again in 2016, which means I'd have to come with another way to make up those 52k points. I could wait and do Plus and Business Premier, but that leads me to my second problem...

Second, I am somewhat worried that the companion pass terms will change at some point to not count credit card bonus points as qualifying points. Either that or they'll stop bumping the Plus offer to 50k as often to make it harder. Given that Southwest changed their point structure I wouldn't be surprised if they put a tiny bit of pressure on Chase to do one of those two things.

Right, that was going to be my plan if I apply for the Plus. I'd be 6k points short and I'd just do whatever I need to do to get the rest.
