Anyone have advice on upgrading a Capital One card from an Annual Fee Card to a non-annual fee card?

My wife has a Capital One CC with an Annual Fee. Her score is above 720 and has a very good payment history with Capital One. How does she go about getting Capital One to upgrade her credit card to a Non-Annual Fee Card. Or does she need to cancel her fee charging card and apply for a new card. You would think it would be easy for Capital One to upgrade her.

Unfortunately, Capital One will not let you upgrade your card to a non annual fee card.  However, you could re-apply for a new card, and combine them with a higher limit.  They are usually good about doing that.  I would suggest applying for another one, and calling to combine.  You may even be able to get them to use the age of the old card as well.

I know there have been some that have had success with doing a product change with Capital One, but neither myself nor my husband had any luck (either calling the number on the back of the card or the back door number).

Good luck! Hoping you will be one of the success stories Smiley Happy

Credit cards companies are in the business to make money so i doubt they will remove the AF. I suggest she apply for a another card without a AF if her scores are in the 700's.

I called last year and tried to get my card changed to a reward card and the rep I talked to told me the only way to do it was to apply for a reward card and combine them. I asked if i would be able to keep the history and the rewards and I was told I had to choose. I decided to just stick with my normal no rewards now with a high APR card. Plus the 3 INQ's wouldn't be worth it.
