Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

Hello everyone just would like some input about US Bank cards. Like is it a good bank, interest rates competitive, easy to qualify, decent SLs, good CLIs, I'm hoping to hear some opinions. Thanks so much!

Re: Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

I've had a cash+ for almost 4 years. Us Bank is a bit notorious for being a conservative lender, but I haven't felt particularly restricted with this card. I can't remember what my CL was when I got this card, but being a Visa Signature, it was $5k for awhile, up until just a couple weeks ago they gave me a $4.5k increase to 9.5k. Fwiw, Penfed gave me $9.5k on a card I just applied for about a month ago, with no prior history with them, and Citi just approved me for $3500 with no prior history.

Overall, I'd say this particular card is worthwhile for the 5% cash back. If I were apping today, I'd look into the FlexPerks (specifically Gold) card and see if it can be PCed to the Cash+, get the FlexPerks for the sign up bonus, then PC to Cash+ in year 2.

Re: Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

USB is by far my favorite lender. They have been extremely generous to me but I also bank with them.

The interest rates are probably about the same as most big name banks.

They are a conservative lender and do manual reviews for a lot of app’s. They use TU 04 classic for apps. 660-670 is probably the minimum score required or atleast the general area. They will give you a chance with those scores but the SL will be low.

CLI’s are HP unless invited.

I have the Altitude Reserve and FlexPerks. The Altitude’s customer service is probably the best out of any of the current lenders I have. Even better then discover which is hard to say.

Re: Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

US Bank is my mortgage lender and offered me the Altitude CC. Great card with a generous SL of $25k. As stated they are a relationship Bank with manual underwriting being a critical part of their lending practices. Once a positive relationship has been established a person has access to virtually any card they underwrite.

Ii would highly recommend US Bank to anyone who has the potential of starting a meaningful financial relationship.

I have become a fan of US Bank. They purchased my mortgage in September, and they have been very generous with me. I do think they are definitely a relationship bank. Once they acquired my mortgage, I obtained the Cash + and Platinum with very generous starting limits (both $15k)  and opened a Platinum Checking (no fees).   I have not tried for any CLI's as of yet, since my cards are just about 6 months old. I am thinking about the Altitude Reserve, but will wait a few more months.  Last visit to the branch, was told I was preapproved for the Premier Lineo of Credit, didn't take the offer, but always nice to have the preapproval.  Smiley Happy

And as a side note, I have had nothing but great customer service from the, both via phone and in branch.

Scores 8/25/2017~ TU: 753 / EXP: 742 / EQ: 726
Goal: 770's or higher by end of 2017

Related to the US Bank Premiere Line of Credit, the range is $5K to $25K. They issue and Access Card (works exactly the same as a US Bank Platinum Visa Card) with actual Checks and the ability to transfer funds internally or externally depending on your needs. Also, you can use it as a checking overdraft line of credit. No fuss with the credit product. The PLOC is run out of the credit card part of US Bank. The actual US Bank Reserve Lines of Credit Overdraft are run out of the banking side.

@Definately a relationship bank.  4 cards, two checking accounts and a long history with them.  I've had auto cli's on my cards, and highest starting limit with the Alt Reserve @ 29k.  They solicite me with offers often.  I use BOA also, and would say card limit growth is much faster with them. I'm at my limit threshold with BOA (76k), but feel that I can still grow with USB (58k).

Re: Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

What are the advantages of having a checking account with USB (rather than any of the internet banks for example)?   In the early days, the Cash + got enhanced reward rates if you have a Gold/Plat checking account, but that went away.   Interest rates on the platinum seem to be 0.01%, whereas you can get checking accounts that offer 1%

Re: Anyone know about US Bank Cards?

Internet banks will always have better interest rates as they don’t have the overhead of brick and motor locations.

It really comes down to convenience I suppose and the customer service quality.

Some banks reward you in ways that internet banks don’t. Such as the case here with USB. They are much more generous with banking customers then those who might have a better profile but not prior relationship

I use USB for checking, savings, and investments. I only keep a small amount in savings with USB. 2-3K

The majority of my savings is with Amex as the interest rates are considerably better.
But I don’t see Amex being generous just because I have a decent amount of money parked witn them.
