Anyone know the procedure for a self-employed person applying for CC's?

I'm self employed and I am planning on starting my own business soon, but for right now i'm doing painting work on the side and I haven't claimed taxes on it yet. I plan on applying for some CC's and some places might wan't proof of income like NavyFed. What do i do in this situation? Not sure how to go about it. I'm also a student too.

First copy and paste this to a new post in the business forum you will have much better results

Second you can apply as a sole proprietor get a business phone license ein # and boom you have a business....may have forgotten something i'm in the middle of something and didn't want you to think you slipped thur the cracks :smileyembarrassed:

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

You can operate a business as a sole proprietor and don't need a TIN or EIN. You can simply use your own SSN.

As you mention, proving your income will be difficult, but not impossible. I recommend you start keeping records and pay taxes on your income the next time you file. No need to do anything but a US 1040 and include any applicable business sections.

In the meantime, try to submit invoices to clients, and use that as a method of proving income when asked.

Good luck!

Sorry everyone i was just saying i was planning on starting a business soon. My question is about me and my personal credit. It has to do with appyling for cards since I work for myself and the places that require proof of income. I heard Navyfed asks u for this kind of information. What would i need to supply being that I work for myself right now if they ask me when I apply?
