Re: Anyone switch up their daily driver recently?

A few weeks ago I set up preferred rewards with BofA at the platinum hhonors level which allows for 2.625% on everything with the Travel Rewards card.  That's now the daily driver for non-category spend.  The card I use most is still my SSFCU Power Travel Rewards card because it gives 3.3% on my biggest spend categories which are travel & dining.

Re: Anyone switch up their daily driver recently?

Daily driver is always getting changed.  It just depends on where and when!  I went from merril+, to world propel, to everyday preferred, not to mention biz plat, spg biz, and blue for business for 10x dining.  Normally if they do not take amex, I can circumvent that with samsung pay. If they dont have proper terminals for that, then I would of course use my credit union cards.  Now that the double cash card is offering me 3.99% APR, I may be inclined to use it more than usual.

I would make sure you are getting well above 2% return, because its pretty simple to get closer to 10-15+....

Would you mind sharing some of your knowledge on this subject and providing some recommendations on how to achieve a better CB return?

Me:

1. Blispay (as soon as it arrives)

2. Costco Visa

3. Target Master Card

I use my PenFed Visa for 5% cash back on fuel only.

Re: Anyone switch up their daily driver recently?

I am in full-on Amex SPG use now, except for groceries (Freedom 5%), BJ's (Discover it, 10% with 2x for first year but ending soon), airfare (Amex Platinum for 5x MR), and of course store cards that all give 5 or 6% back.  The rare place that doesn't accept Amex will get CSP or Discover instead.  Finished spend bonuses easily on CSP, SPG, PenFed PCR and Navy Flagship the past few months.  Credit union cards are going in the sock drawer until BT offers come calling.

Have you changed which card you use the most? Or is it a revolving door? I think most people have that daily driver card, the one they use more frequently than others. Or maybe you are now using a card a lot that you didn't think you'd ever use so much?

I got my JetBlue card in August, and it's pretty much been my main card since then. It has no FTF (and has chip + PIN) and the earning rates are really good for an airline card. But the past few months I've been using my Hilton card for pretty much everything. Even though I travel a lot I rarely stay in hotels, but I also find the earning rates on the card to be pretty good all things considered and I would definitely use the free nights in the future. My only gripe is that it does have a FTF, so I don't use it internationally. So for now I've made it my go to card so I can build up my points balance.

What about you? As of now Discover is my only cash back card, but I'll switch my restaurant spend to that for Q3.

Which Hilton version do you have?  I have the Amex no AF version and I can't seem to find a reason to use it besides getting the spend bonus.  Last time I checked the points were valued at 4/10 of a cent...so for fuel and restaurants, my AARP beats it.  I would like to give this card a little more use if I can find a way to make it happen.  If you have any suggestions I'm open to them.  I usually stay at the Embassy or Homewood Suites which ranges between 22-26k points a night.

I have the same Hilton card as you. Yeah the points are pretty much valued at half a cent, but I'm not into cash back cards much. At this point I'd rather add to my points/miles balances than get cash back. Maybe that will change in the future. If you are only ever going to stay at Hilton when you redeem points, then yeah it's probably not worth it.. But they always have a promotion going on. You can rack up Hilton points very quickly. So for me it works. Generally hotel cards are not worth it unless you have a goal in mind. There are better cards for general spending for sure.

My USAA Limitless is that card for me. 2.5% on all purchases. You can't beat that for everything else purchases. I use my USAA Amex for 5% back on gas, my CSR for 3X on dining, my Citi Costco Card for 4% at Costco, my Amex BCP for 6% on groceries, and I sprinkle in my Amex Platinum and Spirit Card for misc purchases. The only card I don't use is my other USAA Visa which may be on the chopping block soon. My Lowes card gets minimal use as well, but I'll probably keep it.

Lucky you. I bank with USAA but can't get their credit cards. I would definitely get the Limitless if they would let me.

I honestly don't switch it up at all....I'm probably just boring though. i use my Amex BCE for literally everything except Costco. I also will use Discover when it's 5% on Gas. I fear change, Amex BCE 4 lyfe!

Nothnig wrong with that. Not all of us are concerned about maximizing value. Sometimes we just stick to the cards we like.
