Anyone use their Freedom on a regular basis?

I've found that this card is basically useless outside of the 5% categories. I mean, they nerfed the 10% yearly bonus. Before that, they nerfed the 10 bonus points per transaction. There really is no reason to use this card other than to put a tiny charge on it to show activity.

On a related note, anyone else feel Chase's cards are way overrated? Other than the AARP Visa, I don't find them appealing at all.

I think I've only used it once since the 5% on gas ended. Definitely SD'd this quarter.

I have rather the opposite view regarding Chase overall. I like free/discounted hotel rooms and modest upgrades.

I will miss the 10% Freedom bonus. I joined too late for the 10 Freedom points and 7% CSP "dividend", though.

I'm kinda with you, I personally don't care for any of their cards myself. CSP seems to be overrated. I think what draws most people is using the 5% cash on categories (Freedom) and combining with their UR points from CSP for redeeming travel.

overrated perhaps but still useful if you can use the UR points. if not then yeah i can see it being kinda useless

Well, I don't travel, so all the 1:1 transfers to airlines and such are useless to me.

Right but the whole "earn points on freedom and transfer to CSP" meme is totally overhyped to me. The bottom line is, if the categories are useless, it doesn't matter if you earn 10k URs on them per dollar if they are worthless. For example, Q4 includes such gems as diapers.com and audible.com. I am sure some people use those websites but for most people they are not going to be useful and are a total joke for categories, especially in Q4 when consumer spending is highest and you'd think they'd want to put out better categories.

Freedom is an overrated product, IMO and Discover trumps it in every way. Yes, there's the CSP angle but again, meaningless if the ways to earn the points are not favorable or easy.

As for their other products they really don't even have any! They have Slate and then the rest are cobranded cards with specific rewards, none of which I find especially appealing myself but to each their own. Some people have 12 Chase cards. I just struggle to understand which 12 cards of theirs one would find appealing, want to pay fee(s) for, etc. But hey, we're all individuals.

Sorry to hear that, but I still get the 10 points per swipe, and 10% extra points per charge. So needless to say, it's one of my most active cards. I'm not sure why I still have those bonsues, but while they are around, I'm gathering them. I am banking the points for the future day when I hope to have stopped apping long enough to be able to apply for the CSP, then move the points to Hyatt.

Maybe you missed Q1 Groceries? or Q2 dining out? or Q3 gasoline? Those seem like fairly easy, might I say critical to sustaining life, categories. I think gasoline is critical to my life since it fuels my car to get me to work so I can buy food, which I like to have at least once a day. And getting 5 of those points, which can go to 2c or 3c value partners later on, it's not for everyone, but it's not nothing either.

A Hyatt cpp value nerf seems more likely if they get the Starwood footprint.
