Re: Anyone use their Freedom on a regular basis?

visa checkout just released a spend 25 get 15 back with your freedom card. So im sure as heck going to use mine in the next 36 hours. I tend to use it more even when im in 1% areas when i notice im going to hit a cash back 20? 25? whatever it is figure.  I will admit im using it less but its one of my better cards currently.

I've found that this card is basically useless outside of the 5% categories. I mean, they nerfed the 10% yearly bonus. Before that, they nerfed the 10 bonus points per transaction. There really is no reason to use this card other than to put a tiny charge on it to show activity.

On a related note, anyone else feel Chase's cards are way overrated? Other than the AARP Visa, I don't find them appealing at all.

Sorry to hear that, but I still get the 10 points per swipe, and 10% extra points per charge. So needless to say, it's one of my most active cards. I'm not sure why I still have those bonsues, but while they are around, I'm gathering them. I am banking the points for the future day when I hope to have stopped apping long enough to be able to apply for the CSP, then move the points to Hyatt.

A Hyatt cpp value nerf seems more likely if they get the Starwood footprint.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Both programs are similarly structured, for both points earning and points needed per night, so I can imagine a scenario where it is very similar to today.

And, even if it is nerfed, the points still are transferrable to United, BA, Singapore, where 2c is common, so its not a total loss.

Re: Anyone use their Freedom on a regular basis?

IHG gives a free night anywhere.

Anywhere.

They have like 20 properties in Manhattan, and even Holiday Inns there run $130-$300 a night. NYC ICs would be $250-$450.

I will happily pay the $49 AF...but obviously, it's of value since I travel.

Re: Anyone use their Freedom on a regular basis?

Yeah, my Freedom has seen an extremely low amount of use lately since Q4 of Freedom sucks, but I am definitely keeping the card. Q1 and Q2 were great this year! Sure, the Freedom may have an off quarter, but as long as it doesn't turn into a Dividend, I'm satisfied. Plus, my Freedom limit is quite nice and I would never willingly give it up.

It's a joke, dude. When I posted this thread, I wondered "How long before this turns into a discussion of frequent flyer programs or something"...and that's exactly what happened. I just find it hilarious. That might be the vodka tonic talking too, hehehe.

Diapers.com sure sounds like a Dividend type of category.

Alcohol and myfico don't mix. You'll wake up with 3 new cards.
