So some of you know I recently received a few credit cards, checked my report today and I have 7 credit cards,1 store card and my 2 installment loans not reporting yet (auto loan and school loan).
My question is should I go for 1 more store card at this time to have 2 store cards on my report ( really want the nordstrom or bloomingdales). I plan on spending a good amount there in the next 2 months, I don't really need the card but its on my list for future store card I would like to obtain. Should I take the hit now? mind you I just added 6 new accounts.

Personally, I would wait and let some of the other cards age, and see what my scores look like in a month or so once everything is sorted out; however, if I recall correctly, Bloomingdale's pulls EX and in my case, Nordstrom's pulled EQ. Nordstrom's issues their own credit, I believe Bloomingdale's is through FIA (BOA). Nordstrom's might be the easier of the two to recon for if you aren't approved instantly. You can do the application over the phone with the agent.
Also, do you plan on doing all your shopping at one store vs. at both? Nordstrom's offers now discount for opening an account while Bloomingdale's offers any where from 10-20% if you apply in person in the store (I think it is always just 10% if you do it online or over the phone). If you can purchase everything in one location, this might be a determining factor. Usually the higher discount coinsides with the beginning of one of their semi-annual sales (e.g., friends and family, big brown bag, fashionable fundraiser).
I agree with GST2008. Why not wait a while? Personally, while I have a JCPenny's (only cause I saved 30% at the register that particular day)- I dont see much appeal in department store cards. Many prime cards offer free interest for a set period of time. I am not aware of any retail cards that offer the same.
