Hello All,
Going to do some apping soon. Pretty sure I have my mind set on the cards I am in the market for and wanted to list them, get some feedback on approval odds and also pose a question about citi bank.
First my stats: I currently am in the low 700's FICO between all 3 bureau's 701-712. Average age of accounts is over 2 years and my util is around 40%, more like 25 if you figure in an AU amex account. I currently have: Delta Amex Plat: 2k Limit. Chase freedom: 800 Limit (terrible). No inquiries in last six month but a fair few (around ten) inquiries over last two years do to some car shopping.
I am interested in: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Amex Platinum, and Either the Citi Prestige or Barclay Arrival+. So basically the highest tier from each (Amex, Visa, MC). I dont mind the annual fee;s and can justify them in travel and spend.
Thoughts on approvals here?
One citi issue: I had a card with a toy limit that i did not pay immediately two years ago, it never went 30 days late ( i have no late marks) but it was closed by them. Thats my only brain bust but it has no negative impact. Will they be tight with me based on our limited history or will my clean profile make up for it?
Thanks for any and all input. This is a fantastic community full of good karma and friendly advice. I welcome it All.
Hello there,
I have three of the cards listed lol, so here is my input:
Chase pulled Experian for me
Barclay Pulled TransU
Citi double pulled Experian and Equifax.
All three were instant approvals. At the time, my AAoA was a bit under two years. 3 inq on Experian, 2 on Equifax, and 2 on TU. And my income was ~84k at the time of application.
Your chances are probably as good as mine were when I applied.
As for Citi, you can always apply and recon if you do no get instantly approved because of the late payment.
@heyarnold thanks for the reply and good info. Based off your info everything sounds about right. Cheers!

Just be careful with au factoring into your utilization, I have had issue where they don't factor in at all. Just something to keep in mind. I would try and get utilization much lowerl. In general for CSP apps chase sometimes will pull 2, for me it was EX and TU. I live on east coast btw. Amex is usually ex , I think citi for most part is also ex. Barclays are primarily TU Pull.
I think platiunum you should be able to get with no problem, I am not sure about csp and barclays. I have heard csp likes to see you with an card with CL of near 5k. I was able to get one without it, but I had an my freedom at 4500 when i apped for CSP.
I just cant see paying that much on AF's... But good luck
1) I would get that util down to under 20%(without factoring the AU card) and let it report before any apps.
2) Why all the AF cards? I understand you may be able to justify them, but it seems a bit unnecessary considering your current portfolio.
3) The Citi Prestige card has some upcoming changes in October, I suggest you review them: Prestige Terms & Benefits
Best of luck!
Thanks to all. Util was at 40 because I was taking advantage of some 0% on freedom but just paid that so I should be more in the 20% range. I am definitely going to app the amex plat and the CSP once balances report. Still deciding on the WEMC. Have a honeymoon coming up so figuring out which rewards currency would do the most good. Thanks again for the input.

If you could fit in arrival + since csp and amex will probably be ex pulls. arrival + will be an TU pull.
