Application Overload.......TIME TO STOP

Well, I got on the sight in the hopes of increasing my credit scores from the bottom of the 500 pit and I think I have done a little something.  In the pursuit of credit card happiness I think I got "appi-itis ( Condition of continuing to apply for "instant approval" application on line in hope that you will receive the response of a lifetime= APPROVED).

In looking back and writing down my events since Sunday, I have applied for 12 different accounts - WOW!  I was on a roll, Hooters, Discover, Chevron, Kay Jewlers, Crown Jewelers, Macy's, Nostrom, Zales(by mistake was on wrong cite), PFCU, Cap Auto finance, and Bill Pay.  Wooo

I know I will take a hit for these and my scores will decrease to probably 500, but it was worth the trip.  Out of the above I have been approved for 5 {hoping the others will follow suit}.

I really thought the magic button would continue to give me the answer I wanted to hear, but reality kicked in when I wrote the apps I applied for down.

I am currently in Application Rehab...I will not go onto ANY sites and apply for credit or any type of loan account that may require my ss#.  My release date is 12/01/08.  At that time, 9 delinquents on my account will be removed and hopeful the damage I have caused will balance out.

Reading all the threads gives hope and for a moment I was caught up.  Like Cheddar, Haulings, Sylvia, Ilecs say that credit is a tool and should not be abused.

I am back to being focused and will only pull a credit report in July (some of the 9 drop off) and again in December when I am released.

Hopefully someone will read my thread and stop themselves from over applying...

Off to the Sleigh Center with you! Smiley Very Happy

One thing that happens when you've have credit problems is that you feel like you don't have any power. Then a day comes when you know that your hard work has resulted in improved scores and made you more desirable to lenders. It's pretty great when you see that you now have some power and can get some cards. But it's pretty easy for it to snowball.

You'll get past this, just as I'll recover from my own mini-app. (The score damage is starting to show up on my reports. Smiley Sad ) I give us both 3-4 months to get back where we were, and 6 months to be better! Although I may go nuts in the meantime trying to keep all these new cards happy. Smiley Tongue

Re: Application Overload.......TIME TO STOP

I know the feeling. In the past 4 weeks I applied for and received the following:

Amex Green
Amex Skymiles 9k
Amex Clear 2k
Sams Discover 4.2k
Citi Dividend Amex 6k
Chase Freedom 10k
BoA Platinum Visa 5.5k
Infiniti Car loan 12k

So that's a total of 36k of revolving debt and 12k of installment debt.

It's exactly like HTSU said. As soon as I was finally able to get prime cards I went a bit overboard. My scores will probably be back in the 500s when these report.

Re: Application Overload.......TIME TO STOP

Hi Nicki183,

WOW!  12 apps, you're so BRAVE.  I am so scared to go there, I really am.  That's what got me in the credit repair situation I am in now.  I went on an app spee in college and I had no clue what I had gotten myself into, but that INSTANT approval had me blinded.

You say that you have gotten five approvals so far, could you share what they are and your CL's, and what credit report they pulled if you don't mind?

Re: Application Overload.......TIME TO STOP

Nicki, CONGRATULATIONS! You have some nice cards there gf! WTG!

I loved your opening post. Straight from the heart. And Yes I agree. Time to change mindsets into non-ap mode. A hard thing to do to be sure.

App'ing is horribly addictive. I say that in all sincerity. I've gone through it....many of us have. I liken it to an addiction to gambling. Don't succumb to the temptation, for it is growning. Go to the Sleigh Center and read every post there, for support. Smiley Happy

(I have said the above mainly for MY benefit for I am one of those people I'm speaking of).
