Re: Applying at stores vs. online

The only stores I've app'd in person in the past 5 years were a furniture store (CFL thru American General -- requested and rec'd 4k) and Ikea (2.8k).  At Ikea you just go up to a kiosk (like an ATM) and enter your info.  I was treated quite nicely by both of these stores even tho my scores were just below 700.

From 700 in 2008 to 498 in 2012...
4/23/12 -- BK 13 date of filing EQ = 505
4/18/12 -- EQ 498
12/5/13 -- EQ 669
Here we go.... back on track.

I would strongly advise knowing where you are before you app in the store. In my pre-myFICO, credit oblivion days, I was asked at Kohl's check-out if I wanted to app. Not knowing or caring that a 30-day had just posted on another account, I said sure. Several dozen other shoppers watched in fascination as I was shot down. Smiley Very Happy

Just know what you're doing first.

Heh, sounds wonderful. Did they point fingers? Or just smug looks?

No, this is the South. Horrified fascination ruled the day!
