Applying before 6 months after getting denied with Chase

While filling out the online application, it asks if you've been denied credit with Chase within the last 6 months.

If the answer is yes, is it automatic denial or does it not let you proceed?

Good question.

Did you recently app with Chase and it was a denial?? I'm not 100% sure but if yes i think they do not HP you just decline the app.

Re: Applying before 6 months after getting denied with Chase

If it has been at least a couple of months since your last attempt and you feel like you have addressed the issue that caused your denial, you may claim amnesia and say answers NO, but if you haven't addressed the issue, you can look for another wasted HP, I believe when I applied for my freedom the question asked about 90 days. And was approved. I had addressed my UTL issue my cards.

Does the 6mth "do not reapply" rule apply for just new app denials, or also CLI denials on existing cards?

Re: Applying before 6 months after getting denied with Chase

I applied for the Chase freedom on their web site in Dicember 2012 and got declined due to the lack of  credit accounts opened long enough  which was weird for me cuz my very first account was opened in 08/2011 Anyway i re-applied in Aprl 2013 for the same card in the branch and despite i had 3 new accounts opened in the last 3 months i was approved for Chase with a $2,200 CL

Re: Applying before 6 months after getting denied with Chase

N777ua, what reason did they give for your  initial denial? I was turned down for a CSP based upon lack of open revolving accounts, so I have opened two other cards (one a freedom) and am letting them age six months before I try again.

Re: Applying before 6 months after getting denied with Chase

IIRC too many new accounts and high util at the time.  Just waitied for some balances to update and started the process again.  Got the 7-10 msg but it was just to verify I was really apping again, I answered the 4 "out of wallet" security questions and was approved.

That is the best route. Good luck.
