Re: Applying for a Chase Freedom, expecting a recon is needed

I had like 10 EQ inquiries when I got approved for the Freedom. I think you'll be fine and if recon doesn't work, you can always try to get in with Chase through another card like Amazon, work with that a few months, then try again and close that card out and consolidate the limit. I'd also look into getting CSP at that time too because it goes really well with a Freedom too. The more history you have working with Chase, the easier it is to be approved for their other cards. I got in with them through their Southwest Airlines Plus card and they gave me $5k right off the bat with that one.

Re: Applying for a Chase Freedom, expecting a recon is needed

Not sure. The Freedom was my very first line of credit, a few months ago. I applied at my normal Chase Bank, and they told me that having over 10k in a chase checking/saving account definitely helped, if only to show that I was a dedicated customer.

It got me my foot in the door CLI of $600; let's see what it will end up to be in the coming months. But OP, why so many new credit lines now? The ones you have open should be plenty for building up your score, right?

Re: Applying for a Chase Freedom, expecting a recon is needed

I would go for it. There are few downsides. One HP, which as pointed out earlier, will age in 6 months anyway. And I disagree about the banks not caring about assets. I speak from both my and other's experience: sometimes having a good amount of cash can mitigate a short history (not a BAD history though). But by assets Chase means $10k ay least. The big banks in general tend to dislike poor customers unless they can charge lots of fees

Re: Applying for a Chase Freedom, expecting a recon is needed

I guess my attitude is to get them all as soon as possible and then let them age. I have good but short history. I won't have $10k with Chase, probably about half that and an AAoA of around 4-5 months with the oldest account 11 months old if I apply in June or July. I've heard of over $10k in Chase accounts getting people's foot in the door with no credit history. I'm just hoping half that and SOME (but good) history may help. We'll see how it goes... I guess I'm just being impatient and was tempted to pull the trigger now.
