Applying for a card with past BK and write off with the same issuer - how long to wait?

I've been scouting around for answers to this, but didn't notice much on the board - lots of advice on how long after BK to re-apply. But does that also apply to cards where you have previously written their debt off in BK?

IE if I had 15K written of on a chase card will I ever be able to get a card from them again? I had credit cards with almost every major issuer when I did my BK (filed 10/5, discharged 1/06, current scores: EX:723,EQ:685,TU:690 as of late august - probably higher now). I have about 10K in combined limits on cap1 and hsbc now and am wondering when I should delve back into the mainstream cards.

IMHO, you can forget about Chase.  I seriously doubt that they'll forgive your past.

Any comments on citibank, discover, WaMu (whom I currently do all my banking and have a mortgage with...then again they are chase now...). I had a fleet card which is now BofA, had a provdian card which became wamu and is now chase (wow so that means chase now has the bulk of my chargeoffs...) and a BankOne card (also now currently chase).

Wow that's amazing...except for citi and discover every other card i had pre BK now is a chase bank...

you might be able to go with BofA.

Chase is out, I'm thinking at least 7 years.

You could get Capital One

Yep - got cap1 and several HSBC cards now - combined limit around 10K - I'm not hurting for credit, I don't really use my cards, just want to plan that leap up into the "greater than 5K on a single card tier". I expect all three of my credit scores to be pushing 700 when I recheck them in november...

Thanks for the tips.

Bank Of America took over my Providian debt and has me blacklisted now.

I actually had a conversation with a Chase rep about issuing Chase cards to people who BKed in the past.

I was asking the rep what assumption would Chase make about credit histories that were less than 10 years old if the applicant was 50 or 60 years old. I asked if Chase would wonder if the applicant had BKd at some point before starting to rebuild the new shorter than 10 year old history.

He said that it is generally Chase's "policy" that if a person managed his finances responsibly for a minimum of 10 years after BK, that person has now "demonstrated that he has learned how to become financially responsible". That person was therefore "worthy of consideration" for the issuance of a credit card. He actually said that Chase "didn't care" if someone BKd over 10 years ago.

I do however want to point out that I didn't ask if Chase still wouldn't care if that person BKd Chase

My answer to your question would be to forget about Chase for at least 7 more years. By then you might not even care to have a Chase card. It is also possible that Chase is not actually "too big to fail". In that case Chase might not even exist.
