I am working on my husband's credit reports. He has NO new OPENED credit. I want to get him a cc and only know about Capital One, but he has an unpaid Charge-Off for $282 with them as recent as February 2014. I want to see about getting that paid.
I've read before where some people have gotten approved for new Capital One cards AFTER having CO's with them.
Do you think it's possible? I did the pre-qual page with them and it didn't show as approved for anything, just recommended cards.
Thank you!

See if they will either Pay For Deletion or change it from Charge Off to Current, in good standing
check the pre-approval on capital one... but they are usually forgiving ONCE you pay the charge off even if you just settle it.
I had THREE Cap-1 cards go to collection about 7 and 8 years ago...all 3 were paid-one was a paid charge off-settled for less than owed amount....and they just approved me for a Quicksilver Visa Signature on Sept. 1st of this year....just to give you somewhat of an idea.
I had a Cap One charge off about 1 1/2 years ago for about $1800. Paid it and now I have a $3000 QuickSilver Visa. They're very forgiving.

I had two COs with Cap One. I settled on one and the other aged off. I had a former Household Bank card that they took over and I've been able to make it grow. When I apped for the Sony Card, I was system denied but later approved on recon. So you can definitely get back in with them.
Cap One doesn't do PFDs and very rarely offers GW removal on COs, but they will let you back in.
Thank you all. I guess I can see if he is able to get a secured card some place else and then try back with Capital One later on.
boa secured? Even cash rewards and might get the 99/500 offer.. If it's the regular offer.. Wait on it
Not an option with BoA.
