Approved for AMEX Preferred Reward Green Card

i applied today and instantly approved. but when i applied my card said the $95 af is waived. now i think about it i should of gotten the gold then down graded before the af is due. oh well. still happy to get in.

I applied for Green and app is declined. I have business platinum card. I have no idea they would not approve a green when I have a platinum biz card.

Did they give you a reason for the denial, or will they be sending a letter with the reason? Do you carry a balance on your business platinum?

If they didn't tell you the reason yet, what do you think the reason may have been?

i really want to call and ask if i can switch from the green to gold but scared that they will look at the account and close it. lol. maybe i will wait for the card to come in. 

concorduser you should call them and recon. did you get an email why the denial reason is yet? how did you get the amex biz? did you have to pg it?

Evidently AMEX has made the Green card easier to get recently.

I have 3 more acquaintances who were approved for the Green card in the past 2 weeks after having been denied in the past 6-10 months previously.

Anyone else gotten approved recently after having been declined earlier in the year?

I applied for a Costco Amex card a few months ago and was denied even though I had a personal Amex Plat that I used frequently, I've been an Amex member since 2000 and all three Fico in the 770+ range. They are kind of a mystery to me in terms of how they approve credit. I can't remember their exact reasons but they were cryptic and non-specific.
