Approved for AMEX Zync, question?

Congrats!

Your story gives me some hope.  I'm in a very similar situation; my ficos are in the same ballpark as yours, and I too had an account with Amex closed after a late payment, but paid in full very quickly thereafter.  My account closure was more recent (early 2009), but I'm hoping I get approved too!  My current round of CC statements close in a few days; when they show up on my CR showing virtually zero util %, I'm going to drop an app for the Zync, and cross my fingers!

I don't think you'll have a problem getting the Zync.  It's a great foot in the door and the backdating is awesome, especially if you are lacking in the AAOA.  Update the thread with how it turns out for you!
