It hasn't even been a month since my approval for Barclays on 12/13. If I app for chevron will they close my account? Should I be worried? Has anyone apped after being accepted for Barclays?
I opened 4 accounts after opening Barclays within 6 months (I also closed 2 accounts that have reported, and another that will soon report), and kept my UTIL low (1-3%) and never heard anything from them. As long as you don't app for a bunch of stuff and run up huge balances, I think you'll be fine.

Hello Mads8! Welcome to the forums. Barclays does like to see no new inqs and accounts after opening an account with them... especially if you were border line approval to begin with. If you just want the Chevron as opposed to need it.. why not wait? If you have been seeking credit in the last 6 months and you were just recently approved for their card.. I'd refrain from apping anything new for the next 6 months. Just my humble advice. I hope this helps.
Thank you! Can I ask how many inquiries u think you had at the time of beig approved for Barclays? Just so I can get an idea because if you had like 1 or 2 to begin with and I have like six on Tunion our results might be different lol

I assume that question was directed towards me? I had one inq on TU when I apped (AMEX) the best that I can remember. They also pulled EX and EQ because I had to recon to get the card. I had probably around 4-5 INQ on EQ and 1 INQ on EX.
Improvingmycredit thank you! Yes I might have been borderline because I was denied twice within a month from them two months prior to the approval. I do need a gas card. I'm not sure badly enough to take away Barclays with my highest limit though.
Yes it was chwebb1 sorry. Okay that helps I have a lot more than you so my chances won't be as pretty!

Welcome!! For the Chevron, GE will pull TU also. I found that Barclays SP both my TU and EX credit reports for a full 5.5 months after approval. I wouldn't risk it if you like the Barclay's card. If you wait the 6 months.. you'll be surprised the effect it will have on your profile also. Best of luck in what ever you decide.
If you have a use for the card which with the possible 30 cent a gallon off says it's useful... Who cares about Barclay if they have a problem!
i don't like making financial decisions about savings and such based on rather another bank might have an issue with it!
Lolololol! I like your style creditaddict. I don't like anyone dictating my decisions either... But that is life I guess. It is what it is.
