I got the email but I also get the same error message. However, the email does say:
"You can always find a full list of your card benefits here. Once you have your new card in hand, you'll be able to log in and experience the full site."
So basically I'm not worrying about it unless it's still an issue after I activate the card.

Just to make sure, you and your wife are in the same Costco membership household, right? I'm thinking about getting one for my wife, I know I can just add her as authorized user. But I'm not sure if she can also apply a new one.
