Once again I wanted to give thanks to this great community. To think just a few months after learning how to clean up my credit here, I am light years beyond from where I started. Long story short. After removing all but 1 neg of my CR just 3 months ago, I have been able to open a Walmart, Cap One Secured, and a Cap One cash rewards. My scores have shot up above the 700's. Except for experian which stands at a 684. Not ideal, but I'm getting there...
Well after only 2 months of payment history on file with the new cards, I got a pre-approval from Discover. I decided to app (will be my last for prob another year) and to my surprise- got approved with a $1,250 limit!! From what I hear about discover being pretty tough to get, I was shocked. Based on scores alone I get it, I should have been able to. But with the lack of history and recent inquiries, I have 7 now on experian with one dropping off very soon, I really couldn't believe it! I am getting so close to where I want to be. Hopefully after another year Chase will finally wise up and realize I am not the person who made a mistake with a 3rd party card I had with them 12 years ago, and will give me another shot. If I can get them on board, along with Amex - (who i'm not dumb enough to even think about at this point), I will be in the clear!
