Approved for Target!

Hiya guys I wanted to come back and give an update. I open my mail today it's a letter from Target I'm thinking "denied" but actually it was only because of them not being able to verify my phone number. I got the number from a friend who has their card, got some extremely nice people finally spoke to this sweet lady at the actual bank and she did the whole Lexis Nexis questions with me, and ding I was approved.

I agree with everyone here who says apply in the store, it seems less painless. The rep explained online gets dinged a lot of even a small thing is off and the computer denies. I made her laugh as I told her I was happy with m $200 limit from TARJAY! Smiley Wink

I guess with all this rebuilding it feels good to not be denied because of prior mistakes, now it's just addresses and phone numbers need to be verified.

Re: Approved for Target!

Congrats on your new card!

What types of blemishes did you have on your credit?  You didn't happen to have a BK did you.

Hope to hear from you.

Re: Approved for Target!

They pulled TU which is 647 Fico, but my PFICO is only 620 oddly enough WAMU on the PFICO doesn't list a closed and paid US Bank card I had as a joint account, which gives me age on my fico scores. My TU is the only report where 2 paid judgments remain and that's what I got approved with. No BK.

I'm currently disputing the judgments as they're not on record with the court house so we'll see. One is due to fall off in Jan 09 and the other the end of 09, but I want them gone.

Re: Approved for Target!

I was approved for Target and I have not 1 but 4 BK's on my credit report.  Chapter 7 in 01, Chapter 13 dismissed in 04, dismissed in 05 and then finally this last one that is awaiting discharge. (chapter 13)  My score at the time was barely 600.

I got 200.00 and the issue with Target was that my report was free from collection accounts.

Re: Approved for Target!

Congrats!

I got a pre-approval when I used my debit card, last week.  I decided to give it a go and was approved for the Target Visa with $1500.  I was SHOCKED!

They pulled TU.  I have a couple of baddies that are due to fall off next year.

Re: Approved for Target!

Just wondering...if you can get preapproved in store by using your debit card, is it possible for that to happen if you alreay have a store card? Just a thought

What? I thought that was a myth. They really do preapprove you on your receipt at Target?

I'm thinking probably not, since I've been trying for nearly 3 years with perfect payment history and I've tried letting a balance report and paying in full.... I've used my red card for most purchases but sometimes use my debit card and I've never seen this. Though honestly, I rarely read all the stuff on my receipts. Smiley Mad

Re: Approved for Target!

I had a cashier tell me that the preapproval generally happens when someone make a large purchase with their debit card.

Re: Approved for Target!

Yep.. I heard this was true.  You get the preapproval on your receipt, but you still have to enter some information.  It took a couple of minutes to complete.
