Are Co-Branded AMEX cards totally underwritten by the Partner Company?

I'm fairly certain I may be on the AMEX blacklist.  But am I correct in assuming that if I apply for a co-branded card, my prior relationship with AMEX would not come into play?

Anyone know for certain?

You are correct.

I get applications declined when I make an app for an Amex CC on the Amex website, even with a code from a mailer.  I had an Amex CC closed by lender back in 2008 and that is the explanation I get with the denial letter.  My app gets rejected by Amex before it gets to the point of needing an INQ.

I was accepted for an Amex card from FNBO.  My payments go to FNBO.

I believe from a merchant, my purchase would go thru the Amex network.

Amex Centurion issues several co-branded cards - Plenti Rewards, Delta, SPG, HHonirs, etc. These are underwritten by Amex alone because they are directly issued by Amex.

Other bank's card that happen to run on Amex's network (BBVA NBA, Older Citi cards, FNBO, Fidelity, etc.) are all issued by those individual banks, and you're subject to their underwriting criteria. Amex Centurion has no say in the approval or denial of these accounts because they are not the issuing bank- they're not liable for any risk.

Co-branded means an American Express issued card with a partner company logo and usually associated point program.

You apply for them on American Express website. Amex is still the underwriter for all of these.

Other lenders can offer their own cards which simply use The Amex payment network, but these are not co-branded Amex cards, and other than the logo indicating payment network they have nothing to do with American Express and are therefore not affected in any way by your history or lack thereof With Amex.

In 2014 and 2015 the AmEx Twitter offers were pretty incredible. A trick is to snag an easier to obtain Amex network card to boost your hauls. That is why I had Dillard's and still employ BBVA NBA.

My first post here. I included about 50K with Amex in a chapter 13. Discharged February 2014. I applied for US Bank cash 365 Amex card two weeks ago. Approved for $500. Called recon line. Limit bumped to $5000. Applied for Amex card on website. Declined because of previous poor relationship with Amex. There is a blacklist there. But had no problem with US bank Amex randed card. EXP score 752 at the time.

US Bank =/= Centurion Bank. Don't expect a Cent/AX approval until at least 2020.

This is an important distiction.   Cards like Macy's AMEX (DSNB/Citi) or Dillard's AMEX (Wells Fargo) could be considered cobranded cards, but their issuing bank is not Centurion Bank.   However, they use the AMEX payment network and would still work with AMEX Sync offers.
