I am most likely going to close my QS1 card.
I thought about doing a PC but I don't care for their other cards.
The only thing that stood out was the Venture card, but that still has an AF.
No point in PC to the QS because I already have a card that gives the same cashback anyway.
Already closed both cap 1's, once my BT is paid off on us air, going to try to transfer limit from us air to rewards and then I'm closing that. Got a Walmart MasterCard, want to close my Walmart store card but I have a bigger limit on store card then on MC. Also, considering closing my amazon store card now that I have chase amazon.
Getting rid of PRG (replacement is EDP). Downgrading Arrival+ to Arrival. Possibly replacing the Fid Amex for the DoubleCash.
1. Credit One - ASAP!
2. Walmart - I just joined Sam's Club and would much rather prefer their card, even if it is the store version.
3. Capital One Secured
Ha...most of my cards. I have a bunch of old cards that offer me little to no perks but I've kept for util purposes.
These will be getting axed in 2015:
$400 Bloomingdales - haven't used this since the initial purchase and don't need it. Lowest limit.
$1000 Citi Diamond Preferred - old card with horrid APR and no perks or real purpose.
$1100 Capital One Platinum MC - also completely useless, old card.
$1500 Chase Slate - making final payment this month then closing & rolling CL into Freedom.
Could also live without Barneys & Paypal Smartconnect as I don't plan on using them any more but keeping for the higher limits a bit longer. Will assess later in the year. Barclay iTunes will also go once paid off or BT'd.
I was going to axe my Credit One card until I got the "Pay $14.95 for a $250 CLI" so now I'm keeping it.
Buahhahahahahahaha yea right. As soon as my other cards get CLI's that bitch along with Merrick will be getting the axe.
Just closed my BoA Cash Rewards card and got a higher limit Alaska Airlines card instead. Didn't think I'd be closing that one so soon but I accept that stuff like that is gonna happen as a trade off. Also having a BCE and AARP card kinda makes that card not as useful for me anyway.
Home Depot because I don't shop there, and Amex SPG because I don't really stay at their hotels. Everything else stays since I use them all.
I just closed the following cards this morning:
Old Navy Visa - $9,400 **I no longer shop at the store. So, accumulating points would be meaningless.
Kohl's Charge - $1,000 **I used to work p/t at Kohl's and they only allowed the employee's discount to be applied with the charge, check, or cash.
I intend to close the following cards in or around July, 2015:
Hilton HHonors Amex - $2,000 **I am trying to consolidate cards with Amex.
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $8,000 (move to Freedom) **I will close card before annual fee hits.
Last year, I was very successful with approvals and CLIs. I closed all cards from sub-prime lenders. Next, I intend to slowly reduce the cards I have to a more manageable number based on my spend.
