Authorize user applying for credit

my girlfriend has no credit of her own, but is an authorize user on my accounts. i pulled her score a few minutes ago and it is 743. do you think she could get a card on her own now? also, she is a student. i was thinking about going through chase, since you can always recon.

Re: Authorize user applying for credit

DW has been AU and joint card member on my cards for about 15 months till she applied on her own, her scores were around 745-750 and she was instantly approved for Amex Clear $2000 and Citi CashRewards $3700 and denied by WAMU, but YMMV.
IN VINO VERITAS.

I can't imagine being declined with that.

Re: Authorize user applying for credit

I would recommend she get several cards. Sooner or later they're going to do away with AUs, and it would be best for her if she had at least three or four revolving accounts reporting in good standing, with at least a year of history, before they take the training wheels away. With that mid-700s FICO score but thin credit history, I'd have her go ahead and apply at some of the lower-prime cards like BofA and WaMu. While not quite as rarified as Amex, those are solid, reputable cards with good growth potential.

BOA lower prime? I consider them uber-prime.

I think it takes much higher scores to get a non-secured BOA card than it does the Amex Green or SkyMiles.
