Authorized User Questions

Hi folks,

Few years back I added my wife as an AU to my Cap1 cards which I have great standing with. I now want to remove her as an AU, since my balances are high and she is needs to get a few cards of her own.

I have a few questions... If I remove her as an AU, will the AU tradeline disappear from her reports and how long will it take if yes.

And alternatively, if I was to add her as an authorized user on my other card that I have 0 balance on and have had since 2 years ago, will it reports it fresh on her report from the moment I add her or from the original opening date of the card?

Thanks!

Re: Authorized User Questions

Yes, if you remove her it should dissappear & be gone from her reports the next time the card reports.

If you add her as an AU to another card, it should show on her report as the original date the account was opened.  I think this might vary some from cc to cc, but this is the way most of them report.  Also, not all ccs report as AUs & some don't report to all 3.

Re: Authorized User Questions

With Cap-1 it will remain on her reports as relationship terminated, the balance updated to 0.

Re: Authorized User Questions

If it shows up relationship terminated, can you then dispute it as "not mine" to get it completely deleted? or does it even matter that it shows terminated?

Re: Authorized User Questions

AUs can request removal, since they are not primary cardholder and not liable.
