Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything specifically on point.
My wife and I are trying to re-establish our credit. Her mom added us as authorized users to her Chase account. When she called, Chase only asked for our names -- they did not ask for address, phone number, DOB, etc.
Our last name is different than my mother-in-law, and our address is different too. We have not ever lived at my mother-in-law's address.
I am not at all confident that this will get reported. So, I had my mother-in-law call back and tell them that we have a different address, and that she wanted to make sure the info got reported. She was told that they do not take addresses or other info for AU, and they would not add any additional identifying information for us.
So, what do we do to make sure this shows up on our credit reports? I'm guessing Chase will tell my mother-in-law the same thing if she calls back. Is it possible to contact the credit agencies and let them know we are authorized users on this particular account?
FWIW, she added us to her Capital One card as well. Cap One wanted our SSN, but I didn't want Cap One to make a hard pull on our report, so I declined to give it. Cap One did take down our dates of birth and phone numbers. I guess that might help the account make it into our credit reports. But I don't know if it will work either.

I tried doing something similar. In my case it didn't report nor did it show up since I have a different last name and address as my grandmother.
However I have added others to my cap1 as AU and don't worry it doesn't HP anyone to add them. It does report though especially since it asks for the SSN
Thanks. Should I have my MIL call Cap One and give them our SSN? I'm not sure how long it takes Cap One and Chase to report AU, so I don't know how long I need to wait to confirm whether or not the accounts have been reported.
CapOne will report to CB as soon as the statment cuts. If you want them to report early, you could call and ask them.
I am not sure if Chase will be able to find your report, since the address and last-names are different.

Thanks to you too. Do you think CapOne will show up on our reports even though we didn't give our SSNs?
Regarding Chase, that's why I was asking if there is any way for me to report the Chase account directly to the credit agencies. Or, if anyone has been through this with Chase, are there some magic words to say to the Chase CSR to get them to add our address to the account?

Chase will report if you have the same address I know that. My BF and I have different last names but same address and they report for him and he's only an AU on 2 of my Chase cards.
I would have cap1 add your SSN to be safe.
Thanks. I might wait a little bit to see if it gets linked to my report without giving them the SSN.
I'm still at a loss about what to do with Chase.

Don't assume an HP will be done if you provide SSNs. That is very rare to happen for AUs.
I called in and asked for my step mom to be added as AU to CSP. she asked her name and then if she had a different address than me, i said yes and told her her address. she added her and said the card would be sent to the new address. they look up SSN by name and address. you'll have to call and specify that theres a different address otherwise it wont report

Thanks. Chase didn't even ask my MIL for my address -- or anything other than our names. She called back and tried to give the address to them, but they said there isn't even a field in their computer to enter our address.
