Right now I get 4% on up to $10,000/mo with Smartly.  I'm super stoked.  But will it last?  Probably not.  So, I am always keeping an eye open for a 3% or better everyday card.  I'll keep Aven in mind but there seem to be some drawbacks for me.  For starters, the cap of $10,000/yr, or say $833/mo is a joke.  That's half of AOD's monthly cap and AOD is too low for us!  At least Aven drops to 2% instead of 1% like AOD but, still, $833?  That would be eaten up alone by just the water and electricity bills in the summer.  I'm actually surprised people don't complain more often about that stingy cap.  The second thing which I find potentially problematic (but, it could be a blessing too, lol) is no authorized users.  My wife and I are AUs on all our (usually my) cards.  I guess for the Aven, we'd just have to each apply for our own which, like I alluded to, could be a good thing, even if less convenient.  We would double the 3% cap, and I guess I could go first and refer her for the 4% on my card for a year.  The Aven card is not out of the running, just not ideal.  But, then again, is there an ideal card 3% or higher (other than my beloved Smartly)?  Probably not.

Is anything ideal?  all fleeting, take advantage of it while it's available.

Yeah, it's best for frugal spenders, AVEN 3%, but, if you take advantage of the referral promo, you start out @4% on the first 10k on top of your annual 3% @10k.   If you refer anyone after you move up 1% and reset the 10k.  Right now I'm @ 6% and have used up only 4k of that 10k.  That's why it's my GoTo CC.  I'll move up to a fresh 10k @7% soon (no rush), I'm sure (10% is max).  Thank you fellow Fico'ers/DofCer's

You big spenders have a challenge with caps. For us, p2 has her own cards and pays some of the bills, that spreads them out. My big cat is groceries, bcp covers those. Then comes dining, I've got 3% there with savior or commerce. P2 does electric, which I don't expect to get above $250. Right now it's under $100. Water is included in electric, have our own well. Btw, we water anything we want, it's free, lol!

The aven has cut out my previous 2% catchalls, wells active cash and navy flagship.

You got in on smarty when the getting was good. Kinda wish I'd been willing to move the $100,000.  Since I don't have a lot of spend, I tend to be attracted to subs. I got the usb altitude connect when they were paying a $500 bribe. It gives me 4% on gas and is my primary travel card. Just paid $4.39/gal.

No US Bank Cash+ with 5% off all utilities? Saves me a bundle.
