I'm trying to decide between B of A Better Balance Rewards and Cap One Quicksilver (no annual fee) cards for my next app. My questions are: Are CLI's for B of A pretty much HP's? (like most other banks) AND once you get past the 3 credit pull app process with Cap One-are the CLI's pretty much mostly SP?
HP from BoA, SP from cap1, however, obtaining a CLI from BoA might be easier than cap1. I've had my cap1 card for over 2 years, and other than a $500 increase from "credit steps" i've not received a CLI.
Cap1 is the lesser of two evils on this. Cap1 will grow with you on SP only. While BofA wants a hard pull just to have a conversation with you. That and there csr are some of most uninformed meat heads, you will talk to.
IMO go with cap1. My BofA card has not seen daylight in over a year. Matter of fact I'm thinking of shutting it down.
In BOA I use the online CLI link on the page and it was a SP. They didnt do any HP and I was approved.
Cap1 probably depends on which QS card you go for. If you go for QS1 and get placed on credit steps it could grow slowly, not always though. The regular QS will probably grow with sp every 6 months. But you have to take that 3 hard pull hit up front.
BoA generally hard pulls for CLI. Some people get a soft pull CLI, but I would say 98% it's hard pull. They do usually give something for the hard pull though (they've doubled my limit on Cash Rewards a few times now).
